TZP Group announced on October 15 that its portfolio company Results Roofing has acquired Journey Builders, a residential re-roofing provider operating in California and Texas. Journey Builders will operate under the Results Roofing brand. Results founder and CEO Dustin Gutkowski called California "another major step" for the company, and TZP Partner Paul Davis said the combination creates career opportunities for both teams.
The asset.
Journey Builders was founded in 2022 and is headquartered in Los Angeles. Its website lists a Southern California office in Burbank, a Northern California office in San Jose and an office in Houston. The company sells premium roof replacements directly to homeowners through a retail model and completes nearly 2,000 projects a year, supported by a tenured network of independent sales professionals and installation subcontractors. The release does not name Journey Builders' owners or say whether they stay in operating roles.
The platform.
Results Roofing was founded in 2019 and is based in Dallas. It replaces, repairs and maintains residential roofs, specializes in insurance-driven re-roofing, and runs an in-house claims management team and a proprietary sales training program. TZP, a New York multi-strategy investment firm with about $2.5 billion of assets under management, completed a recapitalization of Results in April 2025, and TZP's Paul Davis and Will Callahan joined the Results board. Results now serves homeowners across Texas, California, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Two lead engines under one brand.
Insurance-driven re-roofing follows storms: hail and wind events create claims, and a contractor with strong claims handling can convert those homeowners at scale. Retail re-roofing sells to homeowners replacing an aging roof on their own schedule, paying directly or through financing. The release describes the combined company as having "multiple lead-generation sources" and the ability to serve both retail and insurance-driven customers.
A storm-driven book swings from year to year with weather and insurer behavior, so a retail engine anchored in California gives Results revenue less tied to storm activity. Journey Builders' setup, with outside sales reps and subcontracted installers, also lets that volume move onto Results' systems without integrating a large field workforce.
Folding the acquired name into the buyer's brand matches Cool Roofs' absorption of CoBros in Houston, while platforms such as LB Capital's EM Exteriors keep acquired brands in place. California retail re-roofing has already drawn sponsor capital this year through Awani Capital's NewHaus and Universal combination.
What it means.
Results Roofing is an active PE-backed buyer of residential re-roofers, and this deal shows it will buy a young business with real volume and fold it into the Results brand. Retail re-roofers in California and Texas, and in Results' other markets, now have one more platform looking for exactly that kind of book.
