Tecta America acquires Babilla Roofing, expanding in Indiana with its third acquisition of 2026

Tecta America announced on September 28 that it has acquired Babilla Roofing, a commercial roofing contractor headquartered in Gary, Indiana. The transaction is Tecta’s third acquisition of 2026. Chuck Babilla will continue to lead the company as President alongside the existing Babilla leadership team, and the business will operate as Babilla Roofing, a Tecta America Company, LLC. All employees remain in place.

The asset.

Babilla Roofing has done commercial roofing in Indiana since 1985. Its work covers re-roofing, new construction, and ongoing service and maintenance, and Tecta describes it as one of the state’s most trusted names in commercial roofing. Gary sits in Northwest Indiana, within the greater Chicago region where Tecta is headquartered. “Our name stays on the door, our team stays in place, and now we have the backing to grow more than we ever could on our own,” Chuck Babilla said.

The platform.

Tecta America, based in Rosemont, Illinois, is the largest commercial roofing contractor in the United States, with more than 110 locations, and is an approved applicator for all major roofing manufacturers. Altas Partners acquired the company in 2018 and remains its majority owner; Leonard Green & Partners made a minority equity investment in 2021. Tecta says it does not rebrand the companies it acquires or replace their leadership. It provides operational and financial support and leaves local teams to run their businesses.

Kevin Palmer, Tecta’s President and CEO, credited Chuck Babilla and his team with four decades of building a company around safety, strong people, and quality. “We’re proud to stand behind the Babilla name,” he said.

One structure, three markets.

All three of Tecta’s 2026 acquisitions have followed the same template: a long-established commercial roofer, the sitting president stays on, the company keeps its name as “a Tecta America Company, LLC,” and every employee stays.

• March — Roofing Standards, Placentia, California. Founded in 1996; commercial, industrial, and HOA clients. Mike Lee continues as President.
• May — Big Horn Roofing, Laramie, Wyoming, with locations in Cody and Casper. Founded in 1986. Tecta’s entry into Wyoming; Jason Smallwood continues as President.
• September — Babilla Roofing, Gary, Indiana. Founded in 1985. Chuck Babilla continues as President.

Big Horn opened a new state for Tecta, which said it had wanted a Wyoming presence for years. Babilla is framed as an expansion of Tecta’s existing presence in Indiana, adding a four-decade local name in a market next to its home base.

What it means.

For commercial roofing owners in Indiana and the wider Midwest, the country’s largest commercial roofer is still acquiring and is still offering to keep the company name, the president, and the full team in place. A buyer adding to a market where it already operates tends to look closely at customer relationships, recurring service and maintenance work, and crews that extend its existing coverage. Owners who have built that kind of business over decades fit the profile Tecta has been buying in 2026.
