Overhead Garage Door (“OGD”), a portfolio company of The Sterling Group Foundation Fund, announced on September 9 that it has completed three acquisitions year-to-date: Madisonville Garage Doors and Hall’s Garage Doors (both June 2026) and Compaan Garage Doors (August 2026). All three were founder-owned and sourced through OGD’s and Sterling’s proprietary relationships. Terms were not disclosed.

Madisonville and Hall’s deepen service density across the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic. Compaan extends coverage into Michigan metros. Each brings a tenured technician workforce, established local customer relationships, and leadership that joined the OGD platform after close.

The asset.

The release does not break out revenue, headcount, or founding dates for Madisonville, Hall’s, or Compaan. What it does say is the buyer thesis in plain language: founder-owned garage-door shops with technician benches and local books, folded into a national platform that keeps local leadership on after close. That is the classic densify-and-expand tuck-in profile — not a new platform launch and not a disclosed mega-check.

The platform.

OGD is a residential and commercial garage door sales, installation, and service provider headquartered in Fort Worth. Sterling Foundation Fund acquired the founder-owned platform in July 2024, when OGD already operated in 45 MSAs across the Southeast, Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, and Mountain West. In the two years since, OGD says it has completed six add-on acquisitions, invested in centralized procurement, lead generation, consumer financing, and a fully integrated technology suite, expanded from 45 to nearly 70 metropolitan markets, and now operates across more than 20 states. HamptonRock Partners advised on the transactions; Kelly Hart & Hallman and McDermott Will & Schulte were legal advisors to OGD.

Garage doors: three buyer models in one window.

Garage doors have had an unusually loud September. KKR’s reported ~$2 billion agreement for A1 Garage Door Service put a mega-cap print on residential garage doors. Galaxy Service Partners’ Central Door partnership showed the commercial door, dock, and access side running a partnership model. OGD is the third shape in the same trade: a mid-market PE Foundation Fund platform executing a steady proprietary add-on cadence — densifying existing Midwest and Mid-Atlantic coverage, then stepping into Michigan — without putting individual check sizes on the wire.

Owners shopping garage-door buyers should read the three models side by side: mega-cap platform exit (A1), partnership / chips-off-the-table alliance (Galaxy and the Guild lineage), and classic PE buy-and-build densification (OGD / Sterling). Same vertical, different capital and different day-to-day ownership outcomes.

What it means.

For residential and commercial garage-door owners, two practical points.

First, Sterling’s OGD is still buying. Six add-ons since the July 2024 platform deal and a jump from 45 to nearly 70 metros is a pace signal even when the three newest names arrive without disclosed economics.

Second, Midwestern, Mid-Atlantic, and Michigan garage-door density is in play for a PE-backed operator that already runs national infrastructure — procurement, leads, financing, tech — behind local brands. That is a different conversation from a partnership platform or a mega-cap process, and it is one more inbound owners in those markets should expect.

OGD says it continues to pursue a robust pipeline in both existing and new markets.
