TruTemp Holdings, which does business as TruTemp Services, announced on October 13 that it has acquired D&D HVAC, LLC of Sanford, North Carolina, and Sandhills Heating & Refrigeration, Inc. of Aberdeen, North Carolina. The Apex, North Carolina–based platform is backed by Centre Partners and Baldwin Creek Partners. Together with Maynor Service Company, the Raleigh business TruTemp was formed around in 2025, the two deals give the company a connected footprint running from Raleigh, Apex and Durham through Sanford and Aberdeen.
The asset.
D&D HVAC was founded in 2006 and is based in Sanford. It provides HVAC installation, replacement, maintenance and repair to property owners, homebuilders and general contractors. Sandhills Heating & Refrigeration was founded in 1976 in Aberdeen, in Moore County, and provides HVAC and electrical replacement, installation, maintenance and repair. The release highlights Sandhills' longstanding relationships with custom homebuilders and property owners. Dairus Davis of D&D and Bradford Hainley of Sandhills will continue to lead their operations inside TruTemp.
The platform.
Centre Partners, a lower middle-market private equity firm founded in 1986 with offices in New York and Los Angeles, and Baldwin Creek Partners, a Connecticut investment firm founded in 2022, formed TruTemp in September 2025 through the acquisition of Maynor Service Company. Maynor was founded in 1996 in Raleigh and serves homeowners, homebuilders and institutional property owners across the Research Triangle. Its president, Brett Chappell, invested alongside the sponsors and is now TruTemp's chairman. The plan set at launch was a Southeast consolidation of HVAC, plumbing and electrical services through organic growth and acquisitions, and Jeff Bartoli, senior partner at Centre, called these two deals continued execution of that strategy.
A homebuilder-facing build.
TruTemp says its operating businesses provide new installation services to national, regional and custom homebuilders, alongside maintenance, break-fix and repair-and-replace work for homeowners. D&D and Sandhills both bring builder relationships with them.
Builder work tends to be valued below recurring service revenue, as we covered in our piece on the construction-exposure valuation gap, and construction exposure also weighed on the reported multiple in USA Hometown Experts' sale to GHK Capital. The upside for TruTemp is that every system installed in a new home is a candidate for a maintenance agreement and, later, a replacement.
Sanford and Aberdeen sit directly south of the Triangle, so D&D and Sandhills extend Maynor's footprint along a single drive-time corridor. The release says the added density supports shared capabilities, broader customer relationships and continued organic growth.
What it means.
For residential HVAC, plumbing and electrical owners in North Carolina, TruTemp is now an active buyer with sponsor capital, a stated Southeast mandate and a record of keeping owners in place. It is also buying businesses with meaningful homebuilder exposure, which makes it a natural conversation for owners whose revenue includes a real share of builder installs alongside service work.
