Medford Wellington, a Boston-area business continuity company, announced on September 29 that MCL Mechanical Services has partnered with it and joined its family of companies. MCL is a full-service commercial mechanical company that has served customers across Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Vermont for more than 30 years. The partnership adds West Springfield, Massachusetts, as a new location for the group, and MCL will continue serving customers under its own name.
The asset.
MCL’s expertise includes HVACR, plumbing, electrical, and hot-side services. The release highlights its experience with commercial kitchen hot-side equipment, along with its plumbing and electrical capabilities in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Vermont.
President Marc Lichwan said finding the right long-term partner was important to MCL, and that the company wanted a partner that values people, invests in its employees, and is committed to helping customers succeed. MCL customers will keep working with the same team, and MCL gains access to additional resources, technology, training, and support from the broader group.
The platform.
Medford Wellington says it has provided commercial services and construction throughout New England for nearly 80 years. Its customers range from grocery stores and restaurants to laboratories and hospitals, and its work covers planning, constructing, and maintaining building systems, along with proactive service and advanced monitoring.
CEO Michael LaCrosse said the company is building a family of companies that share a commitment to customer service, safety, and business continuity. With MCL, the group lists locations in Billerica, Medford, Quincy, and West Springfield, Massachusetts; Auburn, Maine; and Rocky Hill, Connecticut.
A new trade and a western Massachusetts location.
The release frames the deal as an expansion into hot-side services across New England, with MCL’s commercial kitchen equipment expertise available to Medford Wellington and its partner companies. West Springfield is the group’s first listed location in western Massachusetts, and MCL’s work extends into Vermont, a state not among the group’s listed locations.
What it means.
For owners of commercial HVACR, plumbing, electrical, and kitchen equipment service companies in New England, Medford Wellington is a regional group adding companies that keep their names and local teams. Owners considering that kind of partnership should be ready to explain their customer mix by end market, the split between service and construction work, any specialty capabilities such as refrigeration or hot-side equipment, and who on the team runs the business day to day.
