On June 30, 2026, Greenwood Industries announced the acquisition of Diamond Roofing, a Central New York roofing company founded in 1947. The deal strengthens Greenwood’s presence in New York and continues its strategy of acquiring established contractors with strong market positions and longstanding customer relationships.

Diamond Roofing will continue to operate under its current brand and leadership, with owner Don DeStefano’s team remaining in place. Integration into Greenwood’s operating platform is planned to proceed gradually, with a stated focus on continuity for customers, employees, and partners. Through the acquisition, Diamond’s customers gain access to Greenwood’s broader capabilities in waterproofing, masonry, specialty roofing, and full building-envelope service.

Founded in 1947, Diamond Roofing has served customers across New York State for nearly eight decades, growing from its roofing roots into a regional provider of roofing, sheet metal fabrication, environmental asbestos abatement, and related specialty services. Its project history spans small re-roofing work to multi-million-dollar historic restorations on some of New York State’s notable architecture.

The acquirer: a Northeast building-envelope platform

Greenwood Industries, headquartered in Worcester, Massachusetts, is a provider of custom building-envelope solutions with 15 locations across the Northeast. For more than 30 years, the company has delivered commercial roofing, architectural metal fabrication, waterproofing, masonry, maintenance, and historic restoration services for complex exterior building systems. Greenwood is recognized by Roofing Contractor Magazine as a top-10 commercial roofing contractor in the United States.

Diamond joins Greenwood’s growing family of specialty contractors, which includes Silktown Roofing, TWC Phoenix Waterproofing and Masonry, Brunca Waterproofing, and Gilbert & Becker Co., Inc. The company frames each acquisition as a way to expand its technical expertise, regional reach, and ability to support customers across complementary exterior building services — while preserving the acquired brand and its leadership at the local level.

“Diamond Roofing has built an outstanding business and an exceptional reputation in Central New York,” said David Klein, CEO of Greenwood Industries, adding that the company looks forward to building on Diamond’s success together. Don DeStefano, owner of Diamond Roofing, said joining Greenwood positions the company for its next chapter while preserving the strengths that have defined the business for decades, giving customers access to deeper building-envelope expertise.

What it signals for the market

Diamond is the latest in a steady cadence of commercial roofing acquisitions, as well-capitalized platforms continue assembling regional specialty contractors into multi-brand building-envelope groups. The pattern is now familiar across the space: acquire an established, well-run contractor, keep its brand and leadership in place, and layer on the scale, systems, and service resources of a larger organization behind it.

For independent owners in commercial roofing and the broader building envelope, this consolidation is reshaping both the competitive landscape and the valuation environment. Businesses with durable customer relationships and specialized capabilities — slate, copper, restoration, abatement, sheet metal — are drawing real buyer interest. But the platforms increasingly differentiate less on whether they will keep your brand and team and more on what they actually deliver after closing, and the terms, structure, and fit vary widely from buyer to buyer. For owners weighing whether and when to engage, understanding where your business sits in that landscape is worth a conversation before the phone rings.
