Flint Group, the Kansas City–based residential HVAC, plumbing and electrical platform backed by General Atlantic, announced on October 28 that it has welcomed Staton Heating, Cooling & Plumbing of Annapolis, Maryland to the Flint family. Flint's partner page now lists Staton with a 2026 year of investment. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The asset.
William L. Staton, a master plumber and gasfitter, opened the company as a plumbing shop in Anne Arundel County in 1983. His son, Will F. Staton, also a master plumber and gasfitter, took over day-to-day operations in 2012 and grew the business substantially. Staton added an HVAC division in 2021 and refreshed its brand in 2024 around the family story and the tagline "Stop Waitin', Call Staton." The company offers same-day and 24/7 emergency plumbing and HVAC service across Central Maryland from its Annapolis headquarters at 1991 Moreland Parkway and a second location in Cockeysville, north of Baltimore.
The platform.
Flint Group partners with founder- and family-led residential service companies and keeps their local brands. With Staton, its partner page lists 20 brands across Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Texas, Arizona, Missouri, Kansas, Michigan, Indiana, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Florida and now Maryland. Staton fills the gap between Flint's Philadelphia and New Jersey brands and its Carolina operations.
Flint's announced 2026 additions so far:
- Air Around the Clock — Fort Lauderdale, FL (announced May 2026)
- Jake's Heating, Air & Plumbing — Indianapolis, IN (June 2026)
- Chesterfield Service — St. Louis, MO (2026)
- Staton Heating, Cooling & Plumbing — Annapolis, MD (October 2026)
What it means.
The deal is a familiar Flint profile: a 40-plus-year, second-generation residential brand with plumbing roots, a younger HVAC line still growing, and a strong local name that Flint keeps. It also follows reports in September that General Atlantic had begun an early-stage sale process for Flint. Platforms in that position often keep adding brands that widen the map and support the growth story a next owner will underwrite.
For owners of plumbing-first companies that have recently added HVAC, the takeaway is that sponsor-backed platforms are buying the plumbing reputation and the room to grow the newer trade, rather than waiting for the HVAC side to mature. Knowing how a buyer will value each line before talks start makes a real difference in outcome.
