On July 8, 2026, Advantage Services Group (“ASG”) announced the acquisition of Doctor Fix-It, a provider of heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical services across the Denver Metro area. Terms were not disclosed. Following the transaction, Doctor Fix-It’s operations have been integrated with ASG’s existing Colorado business, Elkhorn Heating, Air Conditioning, Plumbing & Electrical — a consolidation of two local brands rather than a stand-alone add-on kept separate.

The asset: a long-tenured Denver Metro home-services name

Founded in 1978, Doctor Fix-It has spent nearly five decades serving homeowners across the Denver metropolitan region in residential HVAC, plumbing, and electrical. Over that span the company built a reputation on technical work and dependable service, earning an A+ rating and accreditation from the Better Business Bureau and Great Place to Work certification. It was also named a Top 200 Private Company by ColoradoBiz in 2021. That combination — a durable local brand, a long operating history, and a multi-trade residential book — is precisely the profile residential platforms are competing hardest to acquire.

Strengthening an existing Colorado footprint

Colorado is not new territory for ASG. The platform already serves homeowners in the state through Elkhorn Heating, Air Conditioning, Plumbing & Electrical and Balance Point Heating, Cooling & Plumbing. Adding Doctor Fix-It — and merging it into Elkhorn — is a density play: rather than planting a flag in a new geography, ASG is thickening share and technician capacity in a metro it already operates in. Management framed the combination as creating a stronger platform for both employees and customers across the Denver Metro, with continuity of service alongside added operational resources, training, and technology investment.

Leadership positioned the deal around fit and continuity. “Colorado has been an important market for Advantage Services Group, and Doctor Fix-It represents exactly the type of company we seek to partner with,” said David Williams, CEO of Advantage Services Group. The regional emphasis was echoed by Kevin Cassidy, Regional Vice President of Colorado for ASG, who tied the rationale to shared culture, investment in people, and long-term customer relationships.

The platform and its backer

ASG was formed in 2020 when Williams acquired his first HVAC business, and has since grown through add-on acquisitions into a residential HVAC, plumbing, and electrical platform with a footprint concentrated across the western United States, including operations in Oregon, California, and Colorado. Its stated operating philosophy centers on a people-first culture, employee development, and long-term growth, and it has consistently retained local brands and leadership across acquired businesses — though the Doctor Fix-It transaction, folded directly into Elkhorn, shows the platform is willing to consolidate brands where local density makes that the better structure.

ASG is backed by MRE Capital, an operator-led family office founded by Williams in 2008. That structure sits closer to an independent-sponsor or operator-sponsored platform than to a conventional institutional fund-backed roll-up — the operating leadership and the capital source sit under the same roof. It is a model that has become increasingly visible across the residential trades, and one we covered in more depth when ASG acquired Priority One Heating & Air Conditioning in June.

Advantage Services Group’s footprint skews west: a cluster of Oregon locations in the Pacific Northwest, Northern California, and a Colorado group along the Front Range, with a single Mid-Atlantic presence in Virginia. The Doctor Fix-It acquisition adds density to the existing Colorado cluster rather than opening a new market.

What it means for the trades

The Doctor Fix-It deal is a small but telling data point on how residential platforms are actually building. Two patterns stand out. First, the buyer keeps returning to the same markets: rather than chasing new-geography flags, ASG is compounding density where it already has infrastructure, which is generally where the operating economics are strongest. Second, the willingness to merge a well-known local name into an existing sister brand signals a platform optimizing for scale and shared back-office leverage over brand preservation — a different posture than the same-name, same-leadership approach many platforms lead with.

For owners of long-tenured residential HVAC, plumbing, and electrical businesses, the practical takeaway is that the credible buyer universe now includes operator-led and family office-sponsored platforms competing alongside the larger institutional consolidators — and that what happens to a brand after closing varies meaningfully by buyer. Some platforms preserve the name and the team; others integrate quickly into an existing regional brand. Neither is inherently better, but the difference is worth understanding before signing, because it shapes what the business, and the people in it, look like on the other side of a sale.
